Of course the Chinese are undeniably smart. But don't be so quick to wave aside claims that their aerospace programs are not clones of Russian and US designs.

The Chinese sent all their rocket engineers to Russia to study, and since then have developed what are quite clearly direct copies of Russian boosters, modules and space suits. Even the infrastructure for design, manufacturing and launching space vehicles in China are clearly derived from Russian designs.

The Chinese have also notoriously driven the Russians to distraction with repeated bulk orders of Russian fighters, which they then cancel after the initial 2 or 3 samples have been thoroughly reverse-engineered and copied. For most of the Cold War, China was licensed by MiG and Sukhoi to reproduce various designs, but since then have broken away from those contracts and are producing unauthorized clones. Russia is now very reluctant to sell China any new fighters such as the upgraded Su-34/35 models, as China is already in the process of producing unauthorized copies of them both.

China, like Russia before it, is playing it very smart indeed, avoiding unnecessarily enormous R&D expenses by copying entire designs or the best parts thereof from the West and using its incredible talents in cheap mass-production to quickly modernize their military much more quickly. Instead of being the usual decades behind the curve, they are able to maintain a mere years or even months behind the curve, all the while adding their own unique innovations.

They don't look like the Raptor to me. The Raptor doesn't have canards (J-20, T-50) or a delta wing (J-20), and those fighters are larger than the F-22.

Russians and Chinese don't need to copy the US. Ever seen a Russian or Chinese kid at school? Those people are generally pretty smart.

almost soon every country will have a stealth fighter jet just only time.i think the chinese have the best stealth fighter jet.i pretty sure they will make other ones too with the scrap metal from the helicoptor crash in pakistan when osama was killed.it may be the end of the world sooner than we think.i would check on the contractors.other countries may be using the same contractors and scientist building their steath fighters as we are.

When people compare a T-50 or ShinShin to an F-22, it is like saying a Ford Mustang is a copy of Dodge Challenger (or vice versa). They have the same optimized body because they are all designed to the same standards of operation (5th gen).

I think the new stealth fighters look like the F-22 because that's the optimal shape of a stealth fighter. The real secrets are the coating and systems.

I would`nt agree with people who say that all these new stealth planes are just F-22 replicas or copies. In every developed country people invest in science and so many times hapend that in order to get right solutions or design of plane needed for country scientists usually come to the same conclusions,i mean if in wind tunel testing with some certain design you can achieve desired speed and manouverability or if you with some specific shape of plane you can achieve higher level of stealth,it`s no wonder that in other design bureau other guys get similar result,so that`s why some planes look like they are copies,in the matter of fact they are not the same, none of them, every stealth plane is based on specific approach and demands of country which have invested in that technology.

A lot of the new stealth fighters such as the ShinShin, Chengdu J-20, Sukhoi T-50 all look exactly like the F-22 Raptor. They look like exact copies or replicas of it. I am wondering whether the secret information that the Chinese managed to obtain from the US contains the F-22 plans? Otherwise I am wondering whether one has been shotdown and they have reverse engineered it and shared the technology and secrets with each other for a price? It seems to much of a coincidence to me that they all look the same.
